Welcome to Environments for Young Children! I am so glad to have each and every one of you!  My name is Natasha Kile and I will be your instructor this semester.   I know that this is a strange time considering the COVID-19 pandemic, but we will make it through this together!  Be sure to read the course syllabus, the course calendar, and the course grade sheet immediately.  Please communicate with me immediately if you find something missing or confusing!

My goal is for you to have a successful semester.  In order for you to have a smooth transition, you need to have some basic information.  If you have taken classes before, you may be familiar with some of these things but every class and the instructor is different so take some time to review the course and all the expectations that are associated with this particular one. First, you need to review all the tabs on your home page.  Click on every link and explore what is there.  In order to do your best in any class, you should review the Student Resources Link and Syllabus Link.  You will also find a Learning Module for each week of the course.  This helps give you the “big picture” and stay on track throughout the semester. Don’t wait until an assignment is due and realize you do not know how to submit your work. Within the Start Here link, you will find a course calendar which gives you the semester “at a glance”.  You will know exactly what material will be covered each week along with assignment/assessment due dates. This corresponds with the Learning Modules for each week. You will also find a course grade sheet.  You can keep track of your grades as we move through the semester.  You will also find a Grades tab and a Syllabus tab.  The syllabus includes information about the required texts as well as learning objectives and policies and procedures.  You will also find a link for the required texts within Start Here as well.  The types of activities for this class will include participation in discussions on the Discussion Board, written assignments, and online assessments.

Each week, you have the opportunity to receive 10 points for each discussion - this counts as your "attendance".  Be sure to read and adhere to the Requirements for Discussions in the Start Here module.  Also, make sure you are reviewing the learning module, web links, and reading your text before you post. This will give you more knowledge in order to discuss each week's topic.

Now, in order for me to get to know you and for you to get to know me, read "A Little Info About Me".  Then, go to Discussions and tell us about yourself.  This will begin your participation in this class and help all of us as we get to know each other throughout the semester. If you have any questions, email me and I will be happy to assist you.

Again, welcome to our class!
